The new parking regulations came into effect in the capital on September 5th, meaning drivers will now encounter standardised fee zones when parking. Budapest has been divided into four major zones, with unified tariffs, operating hours, and time restrictions within each zone.
What should you know about the new system?
Parking intervals have changed, and in some zones, parking must be paid for until 10:00 PM.
Prices are rising, and the number of pay zones is increasing, meaning parking is now chargeable in areas where it was previously free.
Naturally, the Parkl app has also been updated with these changes, so starting, stopping, and paying for parking continues as usual.
Based on the lessons learned over the past two weeks, we've gathered a few helpful tips to ensure you can still park easily and without any issues. 😊
3+1 tips to keep in mind when parking on the street
Check that you're parking in the correct zone!
As the four-digit zone code system remains, make sure to start your parking in the correct zone because:
- new areas have become paid zones,
- some zone boundaries have changed,
- new zone codes have been introduced,
- certain zone codes have been completely discontinued.
Therefore, always remember to check the map in the app, using location services to confirm exactly where you are and ensure you start your parking in the correct zone.
Check the parking zone details for the chargeable period and maximum parking duration!
The start and end times for paid parking have been standardised across the four zones, so it's worth reviewing these in the app. In busier districts, a maximum waiting time was already in place, and this has now been extended to more zones.
Check your registration number before starting parking!
You can link multiple vehicles to your Parkl profile, and you can easily switch between registration numbers on the parking zone details page. To be safe, we recommend always checking that the correct registration number is set before starting your parking.
Don't forget, parking is still a breeze with Parkl!
You can fully rely on the app, as all information regarding zone codes, boundaries, operating times, and fees is based on data from the National Mobile Payment Plc., and starting and stopping parking remains just two clicks away.
